Where did you grow up? Boston
How long have you lived in Hinsdale? 9 years
Describe yourself using only 3 words. Happy Healthy Human
What’s your favorite place to take a guest when visiting Chicago? So hard to pick one! Wrigley Field, as it reminds me of Fenway and I love the history and fun area surrounding. But then Millennium Park, Cloud Gate (The Bean), the John Hancock, the Shedd Aquarium, fireworks on lake boat side. You see way too many to choose. I like to be a tourist in our city.
Where’s your favorite place you’ve traveled to? Spain. The views and landscape, the culture beautiful people, incredible food and wine and their way of life just struck me.
What’s your favorite holiday and why? Christmas Eve. Because my entire family of siblings, spouses, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews all gather in Boston. It’s very festive as we eat, catch up and have a Yankee Swap. It gets pretty comical and even the grandchildren sit back and laugh. Then we all go to midnight mass. Or at least those who are still awake!
What’s a fun fact about yourself that would surprise people? I’m the youngest of 10, Born on Valentine’s Day and have a heart shaped freckle on my hip. Kind of funny/strange...
Who is someone you admire and why? Again hard to pick one! I admire many current day people, but I guess an original for me would be Mother Teresa. She was a strong female figure to me growing up. She did amazing things and made such an impact on the world with barely anything. Two of her quotes that I have always loved are “Peace begins with a smile.” and “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
What’s your favorite family tradition? Our family cooks dinner for and volunteers the day of Thanksgiving at Hephzibah Home for children in Oak Park.
If you hosted a talk show, who would be your first guest? Jimmy Fallon because I love him and that popped into my mind first. No, but seriously he probably he would be interesting and hilarious or Oprah or Gwyneth Paltrow... hmmm
What’s your proudest achievement? I am most proud of being a mom to two great kids. Everything else doesn’t really compare but I loved running two marathons and lots of half marathons, wrote a book and I’m in the process of another, started my own business that I still want to do more with and grow but focusing on above two great kids first and foremost.
Do you remember the theme of the first Tablescapes you attended? Yes, it was Destination Tablescapes.
What are you looking forward to this year in the auxiliary? Giving back even more and in different ways other than just monetarily to IWS as well as getting to know fellow members more! Such a great group and amazing cause!
